Power 4 2025 Recruiting Rankings: Week 7
Where do the Power 4 teams stand through the first weekend in October?
In a week where 4 teams ranked in the top 10 were upset, we get a little bit of a reprieve off the gridiron. There were not any significant shake up at the top of the rankings, but we saw significant rises from Mississippi State and South Carolina while Florida State dropped out of the top 25.
These rankings, and the corresponding changes in rank, come from the updated ranking methodology I wrote about late last week. This new method allows for us to apply a penalty to small recruiting classes by padding their results with some amount of replacement-level recruits. Here is this week’s Top 25:
The two largest rank changes this week come from South Carolina and Florida State. FSU dropped 7 spots out down to #31 ranked class amongst P4 teams. Their drop comes as a result of their already small class dropping to only 11 recruits following 4 Star WR Malik Clark flipping from the Noles to South Carolina. With their season already in shambles and a recruiting class with less than 15 commits less than 2 months before the early signing period, it is hard to be optimistic about their future.
The Gamecocks, however, have managed to directly benefit from Florida State’s failings. They won a huge battle by getting in-state product Malik Clark to flip, and secured another strong in-state recruit with 4 Star WR Jordon Gidron. They could complete their collection of in-state blue chip WRs in the 2025 class by securing a commitment from recent reclassifier Donovan Murph, which would likely put them ahead of Clemson for the best recruiting class in the state.
