Power 4 Class of 2025 Rankings: Week 11
Despite a bad weekend on the field, things are looking up for Michigan
Despite a down season with a brand new coaching staff, some questionable coordinator hires, and a frustrating lack of offensive talent, Michigan appears to be building some momentum on the recruiting trail! As a Michigan alum this makes me extremely excited, but let’s take a look at how the rest of the country is shaping up.
Michigan got outclassed in a 38-17 loss to #1 Oregon in a game where they were 14.5 point underdogs at home. It was never close, and it was never going to be close, but the Wolverines brought in multiple top recruits in to see the game and visit Ann Arbor. Among the confirmed visits this weekend were:
Las Vegas, NV 4 Star WR Derek Meadows (LSU)
Tampa, FL 4 Star CB Graceson Littleton (Uncommitted)
Manassas, VA 4 Star LB Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng (Uncommitted)
Detroit, MI 4 Star ATH Elijah Dotson (Pittsburgh)
Detroit, MI 4 Star CB Alex Graham (Colorado)
It’s not surprising that Michigan would have big recruits come in for a nationally televised game, but it seems to have made some inroads on these recruits. On3’s Steve Witlong has already registered a prediction that local Belleville HS product Elijah Dotson will flip to the Wolverines.
This also comes on the back of two flips towards Michigan before Saturday’s game (4 Star CB Shamari Earls and 3 Star DL Benny Patterson) and reporting that Michigan is increasing its pursuit of #1 QB and Detroit native Bryce Underwood (LSU). There’s some reason to believe that Underwood’s recruitment is making real inroads with Michigan’s only QB commit this cycle decommitting this week. I go into more detail below, but it seems like Sherrone Moore’s staff is doing their damnedest to reach a strong recruiting class even in a down season.
Notable Flips
Chester, VA 4 Star CB Shamari Earls (Georgia → Michigan)
Earls is the highest rated and most notable flip Michigan has earned this cycle. He is the #7 ranked CB in the nation according to On3’s industry ratings, and was the highest rated DB in Georgia’s 2025 class.
Provo, UT 4 Star IOL Alai Kalaniuvalu (Oregon → BYU)
Kalaniuvalu is the first blue chip to commit to BYU in the 2025 class. Oregon now only has 15 commitments in this class.
Newburgh, IN 3 Star DL Benny Patterson (Cincinnati → Michigan)
Notable Commitments
Monroe, NC 4 Star S Jordan Young (Clemson)
Notable Decommitments:
Fort Myers, FL 4 Star QB Carter Smith (Michigan)
As the only QB who was previously committed to a program who has had awful QB play this season, this is worrying for UM! They still have 4 Star freshman Jadyn Davis on roster who has yet to play, and they have a commitment from 2026 4 Star QB Brady Hart, but that is very few eggs in the basket. Really what this indicates is that Michigan’s plan for next season seems to be to throw an ungodly amount of money to #1 recruit and Detroit-area native Bryce Underwood (LSU). Presumably they’ll go after a QB in the portal if this doesn’t work out, or roll out Jadyn Davis.
Tampa, FL 4 Star CB Graceson Littleton (Clemson)
